2048 × 256 table

A 2048 × 256 wavetable (256 frames of 2048 samples each) is the de facto modern standard layout, popularized by Serum and adopted by many current wavetable synths.

Serum popularized this pairing, and Vital can export tables as 256-frame, 2048-sample WAVs. Many wavetable synthesizers accept packed WAVs with these dimensions, though import requirements vary. A 2048-sample frame can represent 1023 positive harmonics strictly below Nyquist, and 256 frames can represent changes in timbre across the table. At 44.1 kHz, the packed mono audio lasts about 11.9 seconds.
