Wavefolding

Wavefolding is a waveshaping technique that reflects a signal back on itself once it passes a threshold, multiplying harmonics without changing the fundamental.

Each fold maps amplitude beyond a threshold back toward zero, adding upper partials to the waveform. Applying more folding across successive frames changes their harmonic content. Band-limiting or oversampling can reduce the resulting aliasing.
