Hard sync

Hard sync is an oscillator arrangement in which a master oscillator resets a second, detuned oscillator every time the master completes its own cycle, producing a biting, formant-rich tone.

Each reset chops the slave's waveform mid-cycle, stacking up harmonics that give classic sync its aggressive, vocal edge; deeper detuning moves the timbre further from the raw slave wave. In wavetable form the sweep is pre-rendered — successive frames show the slave at deeper and deeper reset points — so wavetable position behaves like a sync-depth control.
